The Ultimate Street Car Show - Santa Pod 6-8th of Aug 2010
It was that time of year again when the height of madness is truly explored and exploited, in what’s grown to become one of the most mental modified car shows on the UK Calendar – Ultimate Street Car!
As usual Santa Pod played host, providing the ultimate venue for what never fails to deliver in entertainment, controversy, community spirit, presence, partying and overall mind-bending experience.
Friday:
The Richie Don road show left for the Pod early Friday morning, rolling through the rain on the M1, through the A roads via Olney and Poddington to reach a cloudy yet dry Santa Pod Raceway.
This was the first year the show ran over 3 days, rather than the usual 2. At 2pm we added the final touches to the stage to commence the proceedings on an amazing Max Power stage setup. Including various cover cars including the Bookem and Bangem mobile. A full PA sound system, chequered stage, decks, mixer, Max Power and Richie Don branding we proceeded to turn up the tunes and start the party pumping.
The crowd numbers were not amazing, being a Press Day it was mainly Tog's and partygoer's who had booked the Friday off work. Richie did a few press shots for Emerge Energy drink (kept us going all weekend)
Then regardless of the numbers Richie Don and Mr Guest from Max Power hosted with the artificially fuelled energy throughout the day. We played some rather entertaining games: Egg Roulette (5 out of 6 eggs are hard boiled, 1 is not) where one by one the victims (volunteers) smash the eggs on their own foreheads for a special prize.
The Cinquecento Challenge, where we squeezed 10 guys from Kent into the tiny hatchback, and then a rather large Max guy (Craig Phillips) jumped onto of the driver and eventually got the door shut. (making a record of 11.5, he is a big lad).
The Max Power babes were working the crowds. Consisting of Hayley, Faye, Georgia, Louise, Amy Green & Michaela keeping the guys entertained. With the likes of Nerf Gun bum target practice, and a sexy hula hoop challenge. We continued with beats and basslines, giveaways and the general fun of the fair rolling until 5.30pm when it was time to turn the Max Power Stage into ‘Café Del Max’
Richie turned the tunes from bangers and mashups, to Ibiza style (think Café Del Mar Sunsets) house. The team then got a bit if downtime, and took a well-deserved seat for the first time, until 7.30pm when we closed the stage on day 1.
Some of the Max Girls ‘Michaela and Faye’ were booked to dance in the Fuellers Bar for a Hyperbolic Night. It was an early set of 8.30, making the room spacious to put it politely. They Danced away being true pro’s before all the Max Team rolled over to the Fuel Stage to see the Drum & Bass Boys smash it up.
The Fuel Girls show and Miss USC Competitions were taking place so we supervised to make sure all went well. No photo’s of this on this website for obvious reasons as this is the part of the show that’s NOT family friendly, after a few well earned drinks the team headed back to the hotels / campsites and cars they are calling their beds for the night and the end of day one was well and truly upon us!
Saturday:
We started the Saturday with the sun beaming down on us, and as our sweat began to bead the crowds flooded through the gates. It was immediately clear that this was going to be a corker of a day. We set the stage back up and started pumping out the beats.
The joining crowds flocked to the Max Power Stage immediately. We played a host of games, straight after the initial Max Babes Roll Call, where our very own MC Stallion introduced the hot Max ladies. It was straight into our Boot Camp Challenge consisting of Sit-ups and press-ups whilst distracted by the babes.
We were joined by breakdance supremos, the freestylers. They showed us how they do it, one by one we watched the crowds jaws drop in pure amazement as the dancers drizzled raw talent across the stage. After the initial wonderment the crowd got into the sprit of things and begun to awake from the 1000yard stare.
The crowed yelled for more, the tunes got phatter and pumped harder than ever- the show was officially back on.
After another DJ set from Richie it was time for Bookem (Mark Guest) and Bangem (MC Stallion) to perform a unique Rap medley made for the USC show.
Created to show the more humorous side of Max Power the guys with their ghostbuster rip off T-shirts, Neon stunner shades and sneakers burst through the smoke to perform a track that had to be seen to be believed. With accompanying show car/shed the eager crowd lapped it up!
Lunchtime came around and at 12.30 DJ Dexplicit was to spin for an hour promoting his latest track with Lauren Mason, Supplier and a few other industry names. Dexplicit played a seamless set of brand new beats to a crowd who managed to stay and party even though the heavens decided to open on us in a glorious fashion.
It’s no secret rain can dampen the old spirits but we partied on in Max Power fashion and found the perfect opportunity to give away some Maxxis Umbrella’s, the party never stops. The rain bucketed down for about 2 hours until the weather changed and Sun put his hat back on and came out to play. Even the weather decided there was no point trying to fight us and joined in on the weekend party.
A quick mop and toweling from the Max crew and the stage was dry and ready for action. It was back to the action and time for our favourite game of the show: Egg Roulette. You can see another winner / loser here:
Pumping through the various sounds of Drum and Bass, Dubstep, Electro House, Chart, Party Breaks and anything to make em go mad we tore the stage to pieces until 5.30pm when it was Café Del Max part 2.
Once again out came the chairs, nerf guns, alcohol, snacks and laidback beats and the crew came together as one. With peace love and unity until 7.30pm when it was time to disassemble Johnny number 5 again and close down the stage.
Richie was booked to play on the Fuel Stage 8-10pm to ensure the Saturday Night was warmed up to perfection so we grabbed our supplies and headed over to the fairground area climbed onto the Fuel Stage and jumped on the decks.
Playing a filthy set of Drum and Bass & Dubstep to a crowd of over fuelled ravers meant this night was going to be something special. During Richie’s Set the Fuel Girls put on a show of fire breathing, angle grinding, hoop swinging. While the drift boys drove on stage ensuring the decks weren't the only wheels that were spinning. The smoke churning chaos ensued with a show that only Fuel know how to put on.
Taner performed his latest single ‘Myspace’ the Pace and Swift remix which being a drum and bass banger went down a treat! The interaction with the crowd was exceptional.
Together Richie Don, Taner, The Fuel Girls and the Fuel MC’s whipped the crowds into a frenzy of fury so when Luck and Neat took over from the Don and pressed Play on their first track it was ON! Both Luck & Neat and the Artful Dodger played exceptional set to a crowd that were so hyped - it could have been easily mistaken for holiday resort ravers. The beers were flowing and even some 95% proof Romanian Moonshine came out to play. After this everything was then a blur…(sorry about the scooter fail Macca it was the moonshines fault honest).
Sunday:
Due to the nature of the previous night’s chain of events it was a somewhat subdued and slow start to the Sunday’s Session at Stage Max. We eventually got everything in check around 10.30am and the girls were off selling Max Power Goody bags, T-shirts etc to a some what bleary eyed crowd who were also clearly feeling the effects of the party!
Some games perked up the spirits with Stallion’s Roll call for the ladies going straight into the Boot Camp exercise and then came the Ping Pong Challenge. This involves the Max Girls having cups in some precarious places and one by one punters tried to bounce their tiny balls into the cups. Simple, yet oh so entertaining.
After ping pong Stallion says was the next game where Stallion gets to command the girls to his every wish. This time Richie Joined in adding a few extra choice commands very beneficial for the photographers lined up at the front of the stage.
Limbo is a sure fire winner every time, and the Girls and Guys took turns to see how low they could go. They went pretty low indeed. Some of the Max Girls are made of rubber it seems.
Bookem and Bangem returned to the stage, the Greasy Pole competition got its first display.
Egg Roulette, USC’s Strongest man, and the Sausage eating contest were the games to take us to the rest of the day.
After an extended time of 2.45pm (supposed to close at 2) and some great group hugs, group pictures and general feeling of satisfaction at one of the best Max Stage Shows ever the A team is completed and we can't wait to do it again at Snetterton’s Modified Live Show.
The crowds on the Sunday were exceptional all day. From the moment we started to the moment we reluctantly finished we had a sea of heads and stare of intrigued eyes all Day.
Certain people stood out and Kent Kruizin were participating like no other crew that day, their involvement was exceptional. So a massive shout to them guys.
Also a Massive thanks To. All the team At Santa Pod, Jo, Caroline, James, Kelly, David and of course the super friendly security. The Max Power Family: The Guesty Brothers, George the Mexican, Macca, Fly, Bear, Temple, Hackers, Stallion, the Phillips Bro’s, Lisa, Yorkie, Matty. All the helping stage hands especially Manton, Davie. The Romanian Air Brush Specialists, Bookem & Bangem. Gav, Taner, Pace & Swift. The Fuel Family and most importantly EVERYONE who came to party hard and enjoy the USC experience…. See ya next year - USC 2011!

I don't know if any of you have heard of him before but he is now starting to get a big name for himself and a very good reputation.
He is a superb DJ and plays with some big names and also works for the UK Pimp My Ride crew (because his mate owns the garage that does it) with Westwood and co.
Anyway it doesn't seem long ago that we both used to spin tunes in our rooms but boy has he done well, even has his own CD in all the major stores :)
Anyway here is a little sample of his work, but please remember it doesn't show his true skills as its hours and hours into 1 video without showing his mixing talent.
